Hello, wonderful students! Today we have a very special story from the Bible. It's about a tiny baby, a clever mom, and how God keeps us safe. Let's find out about "A Baby in the Basket"!
Long, long ago, in a land called Egypt, a baby boy was born. His parents loved him very much. They named him Moses. But there was a big problem! The king of Egypt, Pharaoh, had made a very sad rule: all baby boys born to the Israelites (Moses’ people) had to be thrown into the river. Moses' mom and dad were very scared.
Moses' mom loved her baby so much that she hid him for three months. She couldn't hide him forever, so she thought of a clever plan. She made a strong, waterproof basket, like a little boat. She carefully put baby Moses inside this basket.
Moses' mom carefully placed him in a basket.
Moses' mom gently placed the basket with baby Moses in the tall reeds by the edge of the big Nile River. She prayed that God would keep her baby safe.
Moses had a big sister named Miriam. Miriam was very brave! She hid nearby, watching the basket to see what would happen to her baby brother. She wanted to make sure he was okay.
Miriam bravely watched over her baby brother.
Soon, a kind princess came to the river to bathe. She was Pharaoh's daughter! She saw the little basket floating in the reeds. When she opened it, she saw the tiny baby Moses crying. Her heart was filled with love for him. She knew he was one of the Israelite babies.
The kind princess found baby Moses in the basket.
Miriam, who was still watching, quickly went up to the princess. She asked, "Would you like me to find a lady to nurse the baby for you?" The princess said yes! Miriam ran and brought Moses' own mother to the princess. Moses' mom was so happy to hold her baby again!
The princess asked Moses' mother to take care of him and even paid her to do it! Moses grew up safe and loved, cared for by his own mother, and later adopted by the princess. God had a special plan for Moses, and He kept him safe through all the danger.
This story teaches us that God watches over us and keeps us safe, just like He watched over baby Moses. Our parents also work hard to keep us safe and loved.
Just like Moses' mother worked hard to keep him safe, your parents or guardians always try their best to keep you safe and loved. They make sure you have food, a warm bed, and that you are healthy and happy. When you listen to them, you help them keep you safe!
Think about someone who helps keep you safe and loved every day. How can you show them you appreciate their care? Talk about it with your family tonight!
