Pictures / flashcards of animals

Introduction 

1. Ask students:

“Do you like animals?”

“Which animals do you see around your home?”

2. Show pictures of animals (dog, cow, lion, fish, bird).

3. Explain:

“Animals are living things. They need food, air, and water to live.”

Part 1: Classification of Animals (10 minutes)

Explain in simple words:

1. Based on Where They Live

Land Animals: live on land (dog, cow, lion)

Water Animals: live in water (fish, whale)

Air Animals: fly in the air (bird, butterfly)

Part 2: Mode of Feeding 

Explain that animals eat different kinds of food.

Types of Animals Based on Food

1. Herbivores

Animals that eat plants

Examples: cow, goat, deer

2. Carnivores

Animals that eat meat

Examples: lion, tiger, cat

3. Omnivores

Animals that eat plants and meat

Examples: bear, dog, human beings
