1. Meaning of Environment
The environment is everything that surrounds us – the air we breathe, the water we drink, the land we live on, plants, and animals.
2. Types of Environment
Natural Environment – things that occur naturally
Examples: Trees, rivers, mountains, animals
Man-made Environment – things made by people
Examples: Houses, schools, roads, parks
3. Importance of the Environment
Provides air to breathe
Gives us water to drink
Gives us food to eat (fruits, vegetables, animals)
Provides homes for humans and animals
Keeps the Earth beautiful
4. Keeping the Environment Clean
Throw trash in bins, not on the ground
Plant trees and water plants
Avoid polluting water bodies
Sweep and clean your surroundings
Teach others to protect the environment
Activity
Pupils draw a picture of a clean environment
Discuss what makes the environment dirty and how to keep it clean
