1. Introduction
Begin by asking:
“Who has seen a computer at home, school, or office?”
Discuss what a computer is in very simple terms:
“A computer is a machine that helps us do work, play games, or learn new things.”
2. Classification by Size
Show pictures of computers of different sizes.
Explain in simple words:
Supercomputer – very big and very fast, used for big tasks like weather forecasting.
Mainframe – big computers used in offices or banks to store lots of information.
Desktop – medium size, used at home or school for work and games.
Laptop/Notebook – small, portable, we can carry it anywhere.
Tablet – very small, we can touch the screen to work.
Use a simple chart to compare them by size and example.
3. Classification by Purpose
Explain in simple words:
Personal Computer – used by one person at home or school.
Server Computer – stores information and shares it with many computers.
Gaming Computer – specially used for playing games.
Work Computer – used in offices for business work.
Use relatable examples: “Your laptop at home is a personal computer. A bank computer that stores customer information is a server computer.”
4. Activity
Show pictures of computers and ask students to match them with size and purpose.
Example: Show a picture of a tablet → ask: “What size is it? What is it used for?”
Conclusion
Recap: Computers are of different sizes and have different purposes.
Encourage students to draw their favorite type of computer and write what they use it for.
