UNIQUE OLIVE GATE MONTESSORI SCHOOLSHello, Year 4! Today we will learn about a powerful king from long ago named Nebuchadnezzar. His story teaches us important lessons about God's power and being humble.
Who was King Nebuchadnezzar? King Nebuchadnezzar was the mighty ruler of a very large and powerful kingdom called Babylon. Babylon was a big city with amazing buildings, like the Hanging Gardens. He conquered many lands, including Judah, where God's people lived. He took many people, including a young man named Daniel, to Babylon.
The King's Troubling Dream One night, King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream that worried him greatly. He knew the dream was important, but when he woke up, he couldn't remember what he had seen! He called all his wise men, magicians, and astrologers, asking them to tell him his dream and its meaning. No one could do it, and the king was very angry.
Daniel Helps the King Daniel was a young man from Judah who served God. When he heard about the king's problem, he prayed to God for help. God heard Daniel's prayer and showed him the king's dream and its special meaning. Daniel then went to the king and told him everything.
What the King Saw in His Dream Daniel told the king that he had seen a huge, shining statue in his dream. This statue was very tall and looked terrifying.
Then, the king saw a stone, not cut by human hands, hit the statue's feet. The statue broke into tiny pieces, which blew away like dust. The stone then grew into a huge mountain that filled the whole earth.

King Nebuchadnezzar's Repentance After hearing the dream and its meaning, King Nebuchadnezzar bowed down to Daniel. He announced that Daniel's God was truly the God of gods and the Lord of kings. However, King Nebuchadnezzar later became very proud of his own power and his great city, Babylon. He forgot that all his strength came from God.
Because of his pride, God humbled him. Nebuchadnezzar lost his mind and lived like an animal for seven years. After this time, he finally looked up to heaven and understood that God is the Most High and rules over everything. He praised God and acknowledged His power, repenting of his pride. God then restored him to his throne, and Nebuchadnezzar truly became a worshipper of the true God.

When we achieve something great or feel proud, like winning a race or doing well in a test, it's good to remember that all our talents and blessings come from God.
What lesson can we learn from King Nebuchadnezzar's story about being humble and trusting in God's power instead of our own?
