UNIQUE FRIENDS SCHOOLSLesson Note: Air in Motion (Wind)
Class: BASIC 3 Subject: BST Topic: Air in Motion (Wind)
What is Wind? Wind is the movement of air in the atmosphere. It is caused by the uneven heating of the Earth's surface by the sun. When the sun heats the ground, it warms the air closest to the surface, causing it to expand and rise. This creates a pressure difference, and air from surrounding areas moves in to fill the gap, resulting in wind.
5 Effects of Wind:
How Wind Works: We can demonstrate how wind works using a simple experiment:
Class Work: Draw a picture of how wind affects the environment. Label the different parts of your drawing and explain how wind is involved.
Assignment: Research and write about a specific way that wind is used in your community (e.g. wind turbines, sailboats, etc.). Be sure to include how wind is harnessed and what benefits it provides.
Remember: Wind is all around us, shaping our world and providing opportunities for renewable energy, transportation, and more!
