BUILDING MATERIALS AND THEIR USES 

Building are structures with walls and a roof such as a house or factory. They are constructed using various building materials. 
Building materials are the materials used for construction purposes, they make up the structures of the buildings. Some, such as clay, rocks, sand and wood, twigs and leaves etc, are naturally occurring which some such as glass, fabric, foam, plastics etc are man made.

USES OF BUILDING MATERIALS 

1 Cement: This is one of the most commonly used building materials. It is used in making concrete (by mixing with sand, gravel and water) and mortar for plastering and rendering.

2 Sand: Togther with cement, sand is used in making concrete and blocks.

3 Gravel: This building material is used to add strength to concrete structures. 
4 Concrete: This material is made from the combination of other materials such as cement, sand and gravel. It is used in making thick floors and blocks and serves to create strong support in buildings. 
5 Clay: It is used added in mud to construct homes.
