UNIQUE FRIENDS SCHOOLSTRIANGLES
In Basic Technology, a triangle is a plane figure with three sides, three angles and three verticles(corners). It is one of the most important shapes used to in construction, engineering and technical drawing. The sum of angles in a triangle is 180°.
TYPES OF TRIANGLES ACCORDING TO LENGTH OF SIDES
1 Equalateral Triangle: an equalateral triangle with the three sides equal. The three angles of an equal triangle are 60° each.
2 Isosceles Triangle: is a triangle with two sides equal. The base angles of the two sides are also equal.
3 Scalence Triangle: is a triangle with no sides equal. Also, none of the three angles of scalence triangle are equal.
TYPES OF TRIANGLES ACCORDING TO THE SIZES OF THEIR ANGLES
1 Acute-angled Triangle: This is a triangle with each of its angles less than 90°.
2 Obtuse-angled Triangle: One angle is greater than 90°.
3 Right-angled Triangle: This is triangle with with one of its angle equal 90°. The 90° angle is enclosed between two perpendicular lines. It is used for construction and carpentry.
PARTS OF A TRIANGLE
1 Base: this is the horizontal side of the triangle.
2 Height/Altitude: This is the vertical side of the triangle.
3 Base angles: These are the two angles formed at the base.
4 Vertical angles: This is the third angle opposite to the base.
5 Vertex/apex: This is a point at which the vertical angle is formed.
PROPERTIES OF A TRIANGLE
1 The sun of angle in any triangle is 180°.
2 The longest side is opposite to the largest angle
3 A triangle is strong and has a rigid shape
IMPORTANCE OF A TRIANGLE
They include:
Roof trusses
Bridges
Bicycle frames
Tower and masts etc.
The triangle prevents structures from bending easily and collapsing.
