Introduction
Ask students:
“What do you see in the sky during the day?”
“Can you feel the wind blowing?”
“Can we see air?”
Explain: Today we will learn about the sun and air and how they help us every day.
Presentation
Part 1: The Sun and Its Uses
Show the picture of the Sun.
Explain in simple words:
The Sun is a big ball of fire in the sky. It gives us light and heat.
Uses of the Sun:
Gives us light during the day.
Keeps us warm.
Helps plants grow.
Dries our clothes.
Helps fruits and crops grow.
Tell students: Without the sun, the Earth would be dark and very cold.
Part 2: Air and Its Uses
Ask: “Can we see air?” (No)
“Can we feel air?” (Yes)
Explain: Air is all around us. We cannot see it, but we can feel it.
Uses of Air:
We need air to breathe.
Air helps plants grow.
Air helps things burn (like fire).
Wind (moving air) helps boats and kites move.
Air fills balloons and balls.
(Blow up a balloon to demonstrate that air takes up space.)
Activity
Balloon Activity:
Show an empty balloon.
Blow air into it.
Ask: “What made the balloon big?”
Explain: Air fills the balloon. Even though we cannot see air, it takes up space.
