Begin by asking pupils:

Step 2: Teaching Collective Nouns
Definition:
A collective noun is the name of a collection (group) of people, animals, or things.
Examples:
actors → a company of actors
chicks → a brood of chicks
buffaloes → a herd/brood of buffaloes
aeroplanes → a flight of aeroplanes
bees → a swarm of bees
bread → a batch of bread
books → a library of books
birds → a flock of birds
bananas → a bunch of bananas
oxen → a team of oxen
monkeys → a troop of monkeys
friends → a party of friends
insects → a plague of insects
dancers → a troupe of dancers
pilgrims → a band of pilgrims
pupils → a class of pupils
rags → a bundle of rags
servants → a staff of servants
diamonds → a cluster of diamonds
fish → a shoal of fish

Activity:
Write nouns on the board and let pupils match them with the correct collective nouns.
