The Job Summary:

The Primary School Teacher is responsible for nurturing and educating pupils in the early years of formal education. The role involves delivering engaging lessons, supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development, and creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that lays a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate lessons in line with the school curriculum.
Teach core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Basic Science, Social Studies, and other approved subjects.
Assess, record, and report pupils’ progress through tests, assignments, and continuous assessment.
Maintain a well-organised, safe, and positive classroom environment.
Identify individual learning needs and provide appropriate support or referrals when necessary.
Encourage good behaviour, discipline, and positive values among pupils.
Use a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to enhance learning.
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding pupils’ progress and welfare.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, school events, and extracurricular activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the school management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum of NCE, B.Ed, or equivalent qualification in Education or a related field.
Sound knowledge of primary school curriculum and child development.
Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, creativity, and passion for teaching young children.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and school administrators.
Basic ICT skills for teaching and record-keeping (an added advantage).
