We should avoid bad friends who lead us into trouble and always choose friends who help us become better people.
7. The Parable of the Friend at Midnight (Luke 11:5-10)
Jesus told the parable of the friend at midnight to teach about persistence in prayer and the importance of helping others.
The Story:
One night, a man had an unexpected visitor, but he had no food to offer him. So, he went to his friend’s house at midnight and knocked on the door, asking for three loaves of bread. The friend inside was reluctant to get up because it was late and he had already locked the door. However, because of the man’s persistence in knocking, the friend finally got up and gave him what he needed.
Lessons from the Parable:
• Persistence is important: Just as the man kept knocking until he got help, we should be persistent in our prayers and efforts.
• Friendship involves helping others: A good friend is willing to assist even when it is inconvenient.
• God answers prayers: If a friend can respond to persistence, how much more will God answer when we keep asking Him?
Connection to Friendship in School:
• A true friend is always there to help in times of need.
• We should not give up easily when we face challenges.
• Good friends support each other, just like the man who asked for help and his friend who eventually gave him bread.
This parable teaches that in school and in life, good friendships require persistence, kindness, and a willingness to help others.
