The Gbagyi are an ethnic group located in Central part of Nigeria. The people live in Borno, Niger,Kaduna, Kogi,Nasarawa, and Abuja states. The major occupation is farming. They plant yams and grain. They originated from Chad in 1400A.D
The Jukun
The Jukun are located in Taraba, Nasarawa,Benue,Kani,Kaduna, Plateau, Adamawa, and Gombe states. The Jukun are the descendants of kwarafara from the kingdom of Sudan. They are warriors during the pre-colonial era. The people engaged in mainly farming. Other occupation are pottery, dyeing, hunting, wood carving, blacksmithing, mat weaving,and calabash making.
The Nupe
The Nupe people are found in Niger, Kwara, and Kogi states. They are farmers which grows crops like rice, sorghum, sugarcane,millet, melon, vegetables,and yam. They also engage in animal husbandry and fishing. The common festival in Nupeland are pategi, Regata, and Gani
The Kanuri
Kanuri people are found mainly in Borno and Niger states. The people speak Kanuri language called beriberi. Farming is the main occupation. They also engage in fishing and salt processing. The traditional dressing of Kanuri men are dankiki, gemage, kulwu, and yange. The Kanuri women wear colourful scarves, turbans and jewelries.
