DOXCOV ACADEMY(Christian Religious Studies - Nursery Three)
Hello, wonderful children! π Today, we are going to learn about something very special: the good things we do and why they are important, but also about the biggest gift God gives us! It's like learning about helping Mummy in the kitchen and also getting a free, yummy cookie! Let's explore this exciting truth together!
"Good works" are all the kind, helpful, and loving things we do for others and for God. They are like shining stars that show how much we care!
Imagine you see your friend sad because their toy fell. If you pick it up for them and give it back with a smile, that's a good work! If Mummy is tired and you help her pack your toys away, that's a good work too! These are actions that make people happy and show love.
Good works can be big or small. Sharing your biscuits with a friend, saying "please" and "thank you," helping your teacher tidy up, or even just giving a warm hug to someone who needs it β these are all wonderful good works! God loves it when we do good things.
We do good works because God first loved us so much! He gave us life, our families, and everything good. When we do good things, it's like we are saying "Thank You" to God. It also shows that we love Him back and want to be like Him, because God is full of love and goodness.
Think about it: when someone gives you a lovely gift, you feel happy and want to be kind to them, right? It's the same with God. Because He loves us so much, we want to show His love to others. Our good works are a way to share God's love with everyone around us. We want to make the world a happier place, just like God wants!
So, doing good works is like being God's little helpers on Earth, spreading kindness and joy wherever we go!
When we talk about "saving us," we mean being able to live with God in heaven forever, being His special friend, and always being happy and safe with Him. It means that when we leave this world, we get to go to a wonderful place where there is no sadness, only joy and peace with God.
Imagine going on the most amazing trip to a beautiful, happy land where you can play all day and always feel loved. That's a bit like what being "saved" means β going to be with God in His beautiful home forever. It's the best gift ever!
God wants all of us to be saved and come to live with Him. He made a special way for us to do this because He loves us so, so much.
This is the most important part! Even though doing good works is wonderful and makes God happy, our good works *cannot* save us and take us to heaven. Itβs like this:
Imagine Mummy gives you a brand new, shiny toy car for your birthday. It's a free gift, right? You didn't do anything to earn it; she gave it to you because she loves you! Now, if you help Mummy wash dishes after your birthday, that's a good thing to do, but it doesn't mean you *earned* the toy car. The toy car was a gift, given freely. Your helping just shows you are a kind child and appreciate Mummy.
Heaven is like that shiny toy car. It's a free gift from God! We cannot earn our way to heaven by doing good works, no matter how many good things we do. God is so perfect and holy, and sometimes we make mistakes or do naughty things. Our good works are never perfect enough to earn us a place in heaven.
God wants us to know that heaven is a gift, not something we have to work very hard to get. He gives it to us because He loves us more than anything! So, we do good works because we love God and others, but not because we are trying to *buy* our way into heaven. It's already given to us!
If our good works can't save us, then who can? The answer is wonderful: **Jesus!**
God sent His only Son, Jesus, to save us. Jesus lived a perfect life, never did anything wrong, and then He died on the cross for all our mistakes (our naughty things). But guess what? He didn't stay dead! Jesus rose again and is alive forever!
Because Jesus did all of this, He made a way for us to be friends with God and go to heaven. All we need to do is believe in Jesus and ask Him to be our Saviour. It's like accepting that free, shiny toy car from Mummy β you just have to say "Yes, please!" and take it!
So, Jesus saves us because of His great love, not because we are good enough. When we believe in Jesus, God looks at us and sees Jesus' goodness, and we become His children, ready for heaven. And *after* we believe in Jesus, we *then* want to do even more good works because we are so thankful for His amazing gift!
Let's see how this works in our daily lives, children! Remember, these are ways we show love, not ways we earn heaven.
Imagine Mummy is cooking, and you see your toys scattered everywhere. A good work would be to pick up your toys and put them in their basket *without being asked*. This helps Mummy and makes the house tidy. You do this because you love Mummy and want to help, not because it will make God love you more or take you to heaven. God already loves you so much!
Your friend wants to play with your favourite ball, but you really want to play alone. A good work would be to *share* your ball and play together, even for a little while. This shows kindness and makes your friend happy. You do this because God teaches us to share and love our friends, not to buy a ticket to heaven. God's gift of heaven is free!
You see a younger child struggling to reach a toy. A good work would be to *help them get the toy* or offer to play with them. This is being helpful and caring. You do this because you want to be kind, just like Jesus was kind to everyone. You're not trying to earn heaven; Jesus already gave you that gift!
If you see someone crying or looking sad, a good work is to *ask them if they are okay* or give them a gentle hug (if it's safe and allowed by an adult). This shows empathy and love. You do this because God wants us to comfort each other, not because it's a way to get to heaven. Heaven is a gift through Jesus!
Here are some steps you can take every day to do good works and show God's love:
Every morning, think of one small thing you can do to help someone today.
Our words can also be good works!
These projects help you practice good works and remember God's love. Remember, these are not to earn heaven, but to show gratitude and love!
This project helps you remember all the good things God has given you and how you can show your thanks through good deeds.
Let's spread kindness and a reminder of God's love to our community!
Learning about good works helps you grow into a wonderful person, not just for today but for your whole life!
Think about these questions and talk about them with your Mummy, Daddy, or teacher:
Remember, wonderful children, God loves you so much that He sent Jesus to give you the free gift of heaven! Our good works are our way of saying "thank you" and sharing that amazing love with everyone! Keep shining your light! β¨
