Topic: How Can You Become a Christian?
Hello, My Wonderful Nursery Three Friends!
Today, we are going to learn about something very special and beautiful: how you can become a Christian! It's like making a new best friend, but this friend is Jesus, and He loves you more than anyone in the whole wide world! Isn't that exciting? Let's find out together!
1. Comprehensive Core Concepts: Making Friends with Jesus!
What is a Christian?
A Christian is someone who loves Jesus very much. It means they believe that Jesus is God's Son, and He came to earth to show us how to love and live. When you are a Christian, Jesus lives in your heart, and He helps you every single day.
Imagine you have a very special friend. You talk to them, you play with them, and you try to be like them, right? Being a Christian is like that, but with Jesus! He is your best friend forever.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is God's Son. He is very kind, very loving, and very powerful. He loves children like you so much! The Bible tells us many wonderful stories about Jesus. He healed sick people, He helped those who were sad, and He always taught people to be good and kind. Jesus wants to be your friend and guide you.
Why Do We Need Jesus?
Sometimes, even if we try our best, we might do things that are not kind or good. Maybe we don't share our toys, or we say a naughty word, or we don't listen to Mummy and Daddy. These things make God a little sad. The Bible calls these things "sins."
But guess what? Jesus came to help us with these "sins"! He died on the cross to take away all our naughty things, so we can be friends with God again. Then, He came back to life! This means Jesus is alive and He can forgive us and help us to be good. He wants us to be happy and live with Him forever.
How Can You Become Jesus' Friend (Become a Christian)?
Becoming a Christian is like having a special party in your heart for Jesus! There are a few simple steps, just like baking a cake:
Step 1: Understand that Jesus Loves You So Much!
First, you need to know deep in your heart that Jesus loves you. He loves you even when you make mistakes. He loves your smile, your laughter, and even your sleepy yawns! He made you, and He thinks you are wonderful. This love is the most important thing.
Step 2: Say Sorry for Naughty Things (Repentance)!
Sometimes we do things that are not good, like not sharing, or being disobedient. These are "sins." When you want to be Jesus' friend, you need to tell Him you are sorry for these naughty things. You can say, "Dear Jesus, I am sorry for anything I have done that made You sad." He is always ready to forgive you!
Step 3: Believe in Jesus!
This means you believe that Jesus is God's Son, and He died for our sins and came back to life. You believe He can help you be good and guide you. It's like believing Mummy and Daddy will always take care of you. You trust Jesus with your whole heart.
Step 4: Ask Jesus to Come into Your Heart!
This is the most special step! You can simply talk to Jesus and ask Him to come into your heart and be your best friend and helper. You can say a simple prayer like this:
"Dear Jesus, I know You love me. I am sorry for the naughty things I have done. Please come into my heart and be my best friend and my helper. Help me to love You and be kind every day. Thank You, Jesus! Amen."
When you say this prayer and mean it with all your heart, Jesus comes into your heart, and you become a Christian! Isn't that amazing?
What Happens After You Become a Christian?
Once Jesus is in your heart, wonderful things happen!
- You become God's child: God becomes your Heavenly Father, and He will always take care of you.
- You have a new helper: The Holy Spirit (God's special helper) will live inside you and help you to be kind, loving, and good.
- You want to live like Jesus: You will want to share, forgive, be kind, and listen to Mummy and Daddy, just like Jesus taught us.
- You can talk to Jesus (Pray): You can talk to Jesus anytime, anywhere, just like talking to your best friend.
- You learn about Jesus (Read the Bible): You can listen to stories from the Bible, which is God's special book, to learn more about Jesus.
- You can go to church: Church is a special place where Christians meet to learn about Jesus, sing songs, and pray together.
2. Real-World Examples: Living Like Jesus Every Day!
Now that Jesus is in your heart, you can show His love to everyone around you!
-
At Home:
- Scenario 1: Sharing Toys. You have a new toy car, and your little brother or sister wants to play with it. Instead of saying "No, it's mine!", you remember Jesus teaches us to share. You say, "Let's play with it together!" and you share your toy. This makes Jesus happy.
- Scenario 2: Helping Mummy. Mummy is busy cooking, and she asks you to help tidy up your books. Even if you want to play, you remember Jesus wants us to be helpful. You quickly tidy up your books and say, "Mummy, I helped you!" This shows love.
- Scenario 3: Forgiving a Friend. Your friend accidentally breaks your crayon. Instead of getting angry and shouting, you remember Jesus teaches us to forgive. You say, "It's okay, accidents happen," and give them another crayon. This is showing forgiveness.
-
At School/Playground:
- Scenario 1: Being Kind to Everyone. There's a new child in class who looks a little shy. Instead of playing only with your usual friends, you remember Jesus loves everyone. You go up to the new child, smile, and say, "Hello! Do you want to play with us?" This is being kind and welcoming.
- Scenario 2: Saying Sorry. You accidentally bump into a friend during playtime and they fall down. You remember Jesus wants us to be responsible and say sorry. You help them up and say, "Oh dear, I am so sorry! Are you okay?"
- Scenario 3: Telling the Truth. You accidentally spilled juice on the floor, but nobody saw you. You remember Jesus wants us to be honest. You tell your teacher, "Teacher, I accidentally spilled the juice. I'm sorry." The teacher will be proud you told the truth.
3. Practical Applications: Doing Good Things!
Here are some simple ways you can practice being a Christian every day:
- Morning Prayer: Every morning, before you start your day, you can say a very short prayer to Jesus.
- How to do it: Close your eyes, fold your hands, and say: "Dear Jesus, thank You for this new day. Please help me to be kind and good today. Amen."
- Helping Hands: Look for ways to help others at home.
- How to do it: When Mummy asks you to put away your shoes, do it with a happy heart. Or, if you see your little sister struggling with her toy, go and help her.
- Sharing is Caring: Practice sharing your snacks or toys with friends and family.
- How to do it: If you have biscuits, offer one to Mummy or Daddy, or your friend. If you have a colourful ball, ask your friend, "Do you want to play with my ball too?"
- Kind Words: Use kind words when you talk to people.
- How to do it: Instead of saying "Give me that!", try "Please may I have that?" or "Thank you!" when someone gives you something. Say "You are welcome!" when someone thanks you.
4. Suggested Home Projects: Creative Ways to Show Jesus' Love!
These projects will help you remember what you learned and show Jesus' love in a fun way!

5. Life Skills Integration: Being a Good Person!
Becoming a Christian and loving Jesus helps you learn many important things that make you a wonderful person, not just now, but when you grow up too! These are called "life skills."
- Kindness: When you love Jesus, you learn to be kind to everyone, no matter what. Kindness makes people happy and makes the world a better place. When you are kind, people will want to be your friend.
- Sharing: Jesus taught us to share. Sharing means you are not selfish, and you think about others. This is a very important skill for playing with friends, working in a team, and even later when you have a job and need to work with others.
- Forgiveness: Sometimes people make mistakes, and sometimes you make mistakes. Jesus teaches us to forgive others and to say sorry when we make mistakes. Being able to forgive helps you have happy friendships and not carry anger in your heart.
- Honesty: Jesus wants us to always tell the truth. Being honest means people can trust you. Trust is very important in all your relationships, with your family, friends, and even when you grow up and have a job. People like to work with honest people.
- Responsibility: When you help Mummy, tidy your toys, or say sorry when you make a mistake, you are learning to be responsible. This means you take care of your things and your actions. Being responsible is a very big skill for school and for when you grow up.
These skills are like building blocks. The more you practice them now, the stronger and happier you will be as you grow!
6. Student Reflection Questions: Let's Think Together!
Let's think about what we learned today. You can talk about these questions with Mummy, Daddy, or your teacher!
- What is the most important thing Jesus wants us to know? (Hint: He loves us!)
- What is one naughty thing you can ask Jesus to forgive you for? (It's okay to make mistakes, but it's good to say sorry!)
- How can you ask Jesus to come into your heart and be your friend? (Remember the special prayer!)
- Tell me one way you can show kindness to someone at home today.
- What is one good thing you can do to help Mummy or Daddy today?
- If your friend accidentally breaks your toy, what would Jesus want you to do? (Hint: Forgive!)
- What makes you feel happy when you think about Jesus?
Remember, my dear children, becoming a Christian is the best decision you can ever make. Jesus loves you and wants to be your best friend forever! Keep talking to Him, keep learning about Him, and keep showing His love to everyone around you!
